Wrapping up a wonderful season of photography work here in Asheville.
October was the best this year. The fall color was amazing.
Now we are laying low and getting ready to welcome our new baby anyday now.

Enka Mill 1928

What did I do on Easter Sunday? I loaded up the trunk of my car with baskets, bags, and suitcases full of handmade gowns, feather hats, and cameras, and headed down the Smokey Park Hwy to Enka to shoot the ongoing demolition of the Enka Mill and the beautiful clothing of designer, Liz White. Yes, together. What an unfathomable land of texture. The mill is being torn down to make room for "retail development". I think they should at least keep the clock tower.

When I talked to my niece on the phone the other week, it made me miss her so much... While looking for a washing machine on craigslist, I scanned the rideshare listings to Michigan. There was someone going right outside of my hometown, and the dates just happened to fit my schedule perfectly. I got to surprise everyone. I saw my parents, most of my 8 brothers and sisters, some old friends, and the amazing fall color. I got to play some music at a local songwriters performance, spend time at a friends horse farm, hike in the woods with my Dad, and even give a talk about photography at my old highschool.

As I was about to walk into the church at Montreat college to start shooting Julie's wedding. I got a call. It was a couple calling from the top of cold mountain. Their wedding photographer was sick and they need a photographer that day. So, when I got done in Montreat I drove down some windy roads to Cold mountain. The dirt road to the cabin on top of the mountain was kind of crazy. I actually got to my subaru's 4wd into action. I wondered at times if my car would really make it, as I was going 5pmh with the gas to the floor. I got there just in time for the start of a very sweet and intinamte wedding overlooking the beautiful valley at sunset.

Last Saturday was the most beautiful fall day. I headed out to Montreat College and photographed the wedding of Wendi and Gordon. The campus was such a lovely surprise. It had the most amazing stacked rock architecture tucked into the mountains.

Out in the hills of Candler

Last Tuesday, I drove out to Candler to the Brahma Ridge Farm to photograph the wedding of Sharry and Gene. www.brahmaridgefarm.com I have lived in this area for a long time and have never been out this way before. It's a beautiful place! It was a cool misty day, raining just enough to have the wedding ceremony indoors, but shortly after the ceremony the rain stopped and we where able to do photos outside. The views where amazing! Sharry and Gene had come up from Louisiana with just a few close family members. They where all so very sweet and had the most wonderful Louisiana accents I've ever heard. Here are a few photos from the wedding day.
